Oprah has a show every few years in which viewers share their million dollar ideas. So many people featured have been stay at home moms that took an idea and made a living off of it. I'm always amazed and inspired to come up with my own idea that will launch enough success to hire a full time maid. These ideas pop up randomly a few times a year, but then I find someone else has already thought of it first. For example, when making homemade baby food for Joshua, I came up with a brilliant idea for a system of containers to keep the baby food in, freeze it, and warm it up all in one. Sadly I saw it in the One Step Ahead catalog a few months later. (I guess they really are one step ahead ... )Well, the tides have turned and I think I finally have my million dollar idea: Electric Training Pants, or ETPs for short. I know, brilliant isn't it? I just can't believe no one has thought of them before. It's being designed for stubborn children who have the complete capability of going potty but are too busy playing, being stubborn, or are just a little on the lazy side. They will fit just like regular underwear but will have a component to it that will emit a little shock if the child tinkles in them. So you have a sneaky child? No worries, these ETPs can only be taken off if the child is sitting on the potty. Yes, we've thought of everything. I think the song for the commerical will be very similar to the Ren and Stimpy Don't Wizz on the Electic Fence tune. (Does anyone in the world besides my brother know what I'm talking about?)
I'm off to write Oprah!

lol. I read your post to Mike, who knew exactly the Ren and Stimpy song you referred to. This led to the playing of the said song, followed by 20 minutes of Ren and Stimpy videos... Oh, and we may need a pair of ETP in the next year, so hop to it!
I love it! Now we need some kind of shocking harness to keep them in bed at night....any ideas?!?!? Just kidding for any strangers thinking of calling CPS on us! We used to be CPS!!!
Awesome. I know your product would sell...:) While your inventing things to make parenting easier, do you have a product for making kids take naps and stay asleep until 7:30 in the morning?
Thanks for that, Susan. I laughed so hard it brought tears to my eyes, so I had to share it with Jesse. It also got a hearty laugh out of him (and trust me...that's a big deal!) But I have to tell you...more than the ETPs, the picture of Tobin in his competitive "luge" position made us both laugh for quite some time. To quote my husband, "That's funny! Great comments!" ;)
oh goodness...you are far from your CPS days now aren't you?? But love it...I really love the idea about the keeping them in bed, but can you figure out a way that will make them sleep all night too?? Haiden is almost 2 and sadly...we haven't slept an entire night these past 2 yrs!!
